Great Outdoors Proudly Sponsoring Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team
We at the Great Outdoors are proud to be sponsoring the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team as well as supporting their upcoming Cheviot Challenge 2014 event.
The Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team is a voluntary emergency service that relies entirely on the generosity of the public and other organisations for donations and funding. Their primary responsibility is to provide a search and rescue service to the area covered by Northumbria Police Authority. Team members are all volunteers who share a common love of the outdoors and a desire and willingness to ‘give something back’.
The Cheviot Challenge event is a fundraising event in aid of the Mountain Rescue Team. The event is taking place on Saturday 6th September. It is designed as a personal challenge rather than a competition. There are two routes you can choose from; a longer 24 mile route and a shorter 17 mile route, both take you on a journey in the upper Coquetdale and Cheviot Hills. For more information and how to enter please click here. You can also enter by picking up an application form from the Great Outdoors Superstore in Shiremoor.
As sponsors to the Mountain Rescue Team we are providing gear and equipment to the team to support their ongoing service. Our customers are assisting their fundraising efforts by raising funds through our in-store collections. The team is also in regular attendance at any in-store events we run, allowing the public to further aid their fundraising efforts and talk with the team.
This month Vango have very kindly supplied the charity with a Vango Airbeam tent for use in the upcoming Cheviot Challenge event as well as future events and training days. Members of the team recently came to the Great Outdoors Superstore to meet Tim from Vango to receive the tent.
All Cheviot Challenge 2014 participants will receive a certificate, a commemorative mug and a 20% discount voucher for the Great Outdoors Superstore.
